 About Directional Non-Force Chiropractic
Directional Non-Force Chiropractic (also known as DNFT) is a gentle form of chiropractic spinal manipulation developed by Dr. Richard Van Rumpt. Dr. Van Rumpt observed that the many of his patients seemed to respond well to softer forms of manipulation and sought to find a more subtle approach that would re-align the spine and restore spinal health. After studying with colleagues who were osteopaths and learning about their methods, he developed the Directional Non-Force Technique. The technique uses gentle thumb thrusts and massage-like movements that direct and re-align the spine, muscles, and soft tissues. Though the technique tends to work well for everyone, sensitive people especially appreciate the soft touch of this method. If you have been hesitant to try more traditional chiropractic adjustments and prefer methods like massage, this technique may be right for you.
